<meta name="description" content="On September 1st, 2006, Disney made a move that would signal the end of the W.I.T.C.H. animated series. On that day they moved all JETIX shows off of ABC Family to be shown exclusively on Toon Disney. This mid-season move left many fans in the dark, as Toon Disney is in half as many households as ABC Family channel. It's true that this series didn't get super ratings on ABC Family, but reducing the amount of people who can watch it is no way to increase viewership! And now, many months after the last season two episodes have aired, there is still no word on a third season. Most networks renew their shows before the previous season ends, and this extended delay shows that Disney doesn't really want to renew the show. Most people will agree that the second season is a significant improvement over the quality of the first season. There is so much potential for a third season that it truly deserves to be continued.

There is good news, however. Fans of Kim Possible where able to get that show renewed nine months after it 'ended production forever.' We can do the same for W.I.T.C.H., but only if we can generate the same (or even greater) level of support that KP had. This will be hard, but it is possible! But we need the help of every fan that can possibly help." />

<p>All things must end, and it looks like the <em>Suite Life </em>franchise is finally coming to an end later this month. It&#8217;s been quite a ride.</p>
<p><em>Television�s popular teen twins Zack and Cody, the longest running continuous characters on Disney Channel, are at the center of the comedy and adventure in the third iteration of their powerhouse "Suite Life"� franchise, "The Suite Life Movie,"� premiering FRIDAY, MARCH 25 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) as part of the hugely successful Disney Channel Original Movie franchise. Reprising their series roles are Dylan Sprouse and Cole Sprouse, who also executive-produce the movie, Brenda Song (of the Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated film "The Social Network"�), Debby Ryan, Matthew Timmons and Phill Lewis.</em></p>
<p><em>Filmed on location in Vancouver, Canada, the comedy adventure movie takes place during spring break as Cody gets an opportunity to participate in a prestigious internship program. However, when twin brother Zack destroys billion-dollar scientific equipment, Cody is kicked out of the program. Soon thereafter, the brothers are approached to join the Gemini Project, a high-tech research center studying the dynamics between twins. Shockingly, they find themselves interconnected in a way they�ve never been before: When one twin experiences a sensation, thought or feeling, the other twin feels it too. While this newfound revelation helps the boys see eye to eye for the first time, it puts them in more danger than they could have imagined.</em></p>

Well, with this announcement that Alyson Reed will reprise her role as Ms. Darbus in the new Pilot <em>Madison High</em>, it looks like Disney is finally doing just that! And it&#8217;s also been revealed that G Hannelius has been added to the cast!</span></p>
<p><span><em>A favorite star from "High School Musical"� will be joined by six multitalented performers in a new music and dance-driven comedy pilot, "Madison High"� (working title). The series pilot introduces a troupe of theater students led by the melodramatic drama teacher Ms. Darbus, a beloved character from the cultural sensation "High School Musical."� Production on the pilot in March in consideration for a Disney Channel series to premiere in early 2012.</em></span></p>

This film tells the story of the 1984 a stockholders&#8217; revolt that brought in the new management team that included Michael Eisner, Frank Wells, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Roy E. It chronicles the decade between 1984 and 1994 when the studio created such hits as <em>The Little Mermaid</em>, <em>Who Framed Roger Rabbit</em>, <em>Beauty and the Beast</em>, <em>Aladdin</em>, and <em>The Lion King</em>. It is a Disney movie, and obviously has some bias in how events are portrayed, but it is still a fascinating look at a piece of contemporary Disney history that most people will not be familiar with. <h2><span class="style0"><span>New Movements Founded for JONAS (LA) and Sonny with a Chance</span></span></h2>

<p>Disney has declined to renew the revamped J.O.N.A.S. / JONAS LA series for a third season citing among other issues, scheduling concerns.</p>
<p>In light of this development, and given the fact that the second season was considerably better than the first season, we have established a &#8220;Save JONAS&#8221; movement for the fans that have been asking for one. <p>It&#8217;s no secret that Demi Lovato, Sonny Munroe herself, has fallen on some rather hard times recently. And with all the uncertainty surrounding her future availability, it&#8217;s hard to say what will happen to the show. The general consensus seems to indicate that the show will continue for season three, with or without her. Here at SDS, we seek to ensure both that the show continues and that it continues with Demi in her lead role.</p>
<p>As the first filming dates grow closer, we will continue to monitor the situation and possibly begin planning of future events as necessary on our new <a href="http://savedisneyshows.org/sds/swac/home/">Save SWAC website</a>.</p>
<h2><span class="style0"><span>December Disney Channel Highlights</span></span></h2>

<p>There are also two new <em>Wizards</em>, a special <em>Hannah</em>, the <em>Good Luck Charlie</em> episode Webmaster Greg went to the filming for, and even a Christmas themed Suite Life: <em>&#8220;A London Carol&#8221; - Cody and Bailey approach their friends to help out with their charity event, but London refuses. But when her magic mirror takes her to her past, present and future, she learns the importance of giving and being a good friend.</em></p>

<h2><span class="style0"><span>New Disney Channel Series: A.N.T. Farm</span></span></h2>

<p><em>Disney Channel has ordered the live-action comedy series, "A.N.T. Farm"� (working title), it was announced today by Gary Marsh, President, Entertainment, and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. "A.N.T. Farm"� will begin production in early 2011.</em></p>
<p><em>The series stars 12-year-old China McClain ("House of Payne"�) as middle schooler Chyna Sparks, a music prodigy who gets into a gifted program, Accelerated Natural Talent, at the local high school. She, along with her fellow ANTS, must now navigate the halls of high school where they�re not particularly fond of grade-skipping newbies.</em></p>

<h2><span class="style0"><span>Disney 4th Quarter Profit Sinks 7%</span></span></h2>

<p><em>As the story goes, teenage twins Cody and Zack Martin receive an   opportunity to participate in the prestigious Gemini Project at a   high-tech research center that studies the dynamics between twins. Soon   they find themselves connected in a way they�ve never been before: When   one twin experiences a sensation, thought or feeling, the other twin   feels it too. While this newfound power helps the boys see eye to eye   for the first time, it ultimately puts them in more danger than they   could have imagined.</em></p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span><span>Paul Lee Promoted to President of ABC</span></span></h2>
<p>ABC Family&#8217;s management  only gave <em>Ruby</em> 10 episodes and ended <em>10 Things</em> after   only one season. Is this the kind of management Paul Lee will be   bringing to the ABC Network?</p>
<p><em>The 50-year-old, London-born Lee, a former BBC television executive, [and current ABC Family President] will oversee creative and business operations for the broadcast network as well as ABC Studios, the company�s in-house TV production unit. It�s a massive job for the executive, who has spent the last decade keeping a modest profile at mid-size cable channels.</em></p>
<p><em>But Disney executives are confident that Lee is up to the task. They point to Lee�s variety of skills, which include producing and directing made-for-TV movies. He worked on spicy telenovelas, a staple of Spanish-language television.</em></p>

<p><em>In 2Q10, "Good Luck Charlie"� ranked as the No. 1 series on television   among Kids 6-11 and Tweens 9-14, posting double-digit gains year to year   among both demographics and defeating its time period competition by   triple digits.</em></p>
<p>Good Luck Charlie has clearly gotten some pretty impressive ratings, so it�s no   surprise that Disney has picked up the show for another season. However,   it is a little surprising that they&#8217;ve already ordered a movie!</p>

He must pose as the troop�s elderly den mother from time   to time but thinks it�s a small price to pay, especially since he can   get Emily and the girls to do his chores and make him snacks in exchange   for merit badges. Even more advantageous, Alex has the opportunity to   get closer to the beautiful Matisse Burrows, leader of another Bumble   Bee Troop. However, when his self-centered antics cost Emily and her   friends an opportunity to participate in the long-anticipated Camporee,   Alex finally sees how he has affected those he cares about and must devise a plan that will get his troop into the camp.</em></p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span><span><em>Shake It Up</em> Episode Filming</span></span></h2>

<p>You heard about it here first! Disney Channel&#8217;s next live action series (and the replacement for <em>Hannah Montana</em>) began filming in LA last month, and  Webmaster Greg has the inside scoop from the filming of the second episode.</p>
<p><em>In the pilot we are introduced to best friends CeCe Jones (Bella Thorne) and Rocky Blue (Zendaya Coleman). &#8230;  At school, we meet Deuce (Adam Irigoyen) &#8230; [who] also had an important gift for the girls, a   flier with the info to audition for a dance show called "Shake it Up   Chicago."� Rocky is reluctant, but CeCe insists that they give it a try -   it is their dream to be professional dancers after all. &#8230; Anyway, CeCe and Rocky audition for the show and through no fault of her own CeCe is eliminated. Rocky makes it, but doesn�t want to go without her BFF. CeCe insists that Rocky follow through with her dream and marches her to   the studio - with Rocky still in her pajamas. This next segment was   very Hannah Montana-esque as CeCe helped Rocky change into her dance   clothes during the live show. Fortunately, the host thought more of it   than [Greg] did, because instead of firing Rocky, he asked both girls to stay on the show. And that is how these two best friends ended up on TV.</em></p>
<p>This show plays upon familiar themes and is no way groundbreaking, but it&#8217;s a solid effort and is likely to become a a big hit. The star of the show, Bella Thorne, is clearly very talented and as the first of the next generation of DC stars is likely to become the next Miley &#8211; and we mean that in a good way!</p>

<p>ABC Family�s <em>10 Things</em> was canceled last month, and the series finale ended on a cliff hanger! It sounds like the decision was primarily made in response to lower  than expected ratings. Which means that a sizable fan campaign has a  reasonable chance of convincing the company to continue to invest in  the show.</p>

<p>We did it guys! Disney has officially announced the renewal of WOWP for a fourth season, AND they�re making a second DCOM!</p>
<p><em>Disney  has ordered a fourth season of its Emmy Award-winning sitcom "Wizards  of Waverly Place,"� and is in development on the sequel to "Wizards of  Waverly Place The Movie,"� cable TV�s second-highest rated scripted  telecast of all time in Total Viewers (13.5 million), Kids 6-11 and  Tweens. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president,  Entertainment, and chief creative officer, Disney  Worldwide.  on the fourth season is scheduled to begin in August with show runners  Vince Cheung and Ben Montanio ("Married"�with Children,"� "Greetings from  Tucson"�) executive-producing. Todd J. Greenwald ("Hannah Montana,"�  "Saved By the Bell: The New Class"�) is the series creator and also an  executive producer.</em></p>
<p><em>In making the announcement, Marsh said, "The Emmy win this past year  confirmed what we already believed - this is a cast of superstar  comedic talent, backed by an inspired team of writers and producers."�</em></p>

<p>Starring are Debby Ryan ("The Suite Life on Deck"�) as Abby Jensen;  Jean-Luc Bilodeau ("Kyle XY"�) as Jay Kepler; Anna Mae Routledge  ("Harper�s Island"�) as Celeste; and Karissa Tynes ("Aliens in America"�)  as Krista Cook. <p><em>Disney  has ordered "Shake It Up!,"� a buddy comedy centered around a teen dance  show, created by Chris Thompson ("Laverne and Shirley,"� "Bosom  Buddies,"� "The  Truth,"� "Action"�) and executive-produced by Thompson and Rob  Lotterstein ("The War at Home,"� "Ellen"�). It stars 12-year-old Bella  Thorne ("Big Love"�) and 13-year-old Zendaya. The multi-camera series  will begin  in Hollywood, California, in July for a scheduled Fall 2010 premiere on Disney Channel. The  was made today by Gary Marsh, president, Entertainment, and chief creative officer, Disney  Worldwide.</em></p>
<p><em>Marsh said, "Newcomers Bella Thorne and Zendaya make for one of the  most likable and engaging BFF duos we�ve ever seen. <p>As this newsletter comes to a close, we wanted to apologize for being a few days late. This has been a crazy week for Webmaster greg, which ended with an unbelievable event this past Friday night. Greg attended the filming for one of the last season two episodes of <em>Sonny with a Chance</em>!</p>

This is a  episode for the overall season two storyline and it wouldn�t be fair to  you all to spoil how it ends. In this episode, So Random and MacKenzie  Falls are both nominated for the Tween Choice award for best Tween  show, which causes some (additional) friction between the two casts. &#8230; Needless to say, people where impressed. Ezra took a moment then to  mention that I had a fansite to one of the showrunners. I think it was  creator Steve Marmel, but I�m not sure. </em></p>

<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span><span>Save <em>Wizards of Waverly Place</em>!</span></span></h2>
<p>It may seem hard to believe, but Disney&#8217;s <a href="http://blog.savedisneyshows.org/2010/01/27/ratings-magic-for-wizards-vs-werewolves/">consistently highest rated</a> and Emmy winning program the <em>Wizards of Waverly Place</em> is set to conclude production of it&#8217;s third and final season this March! This will bring the show to roughly 75 episodes in total.</p>
<p>The cast was only signed to three seasons, and star Selena Gomez has indicated in several interviews that she wishes to move on. While we certainly respect her  desire to explore her options, there is no reason she can&#8217;t wait an  extra year before enrolling in college or taking certain movie roles.  But once <em>Wizards</em> ends, she can&#8217;t easily come back, so it&#8217;s only logical  that the cast make the fourth season now, and then move on to other  projects.</p>
<p>At SDS, we believe most fans want to see that fourth season happen. Not  only do we love the series, but that fourth season makes the whole  series more valuable by extending how long Disney can replay the  series, plus it increases Disney&#8217;s options for syndication.</p>
<p>Whatever the reason for Disney&#8217;s decision  not to renew the show, we have a much greater chance of saving the show if we act now, before production ends and the cast and crew begin other projects.</p>

The multi-camera series will begin production in Hollywood in March 2010 and begin airing in Fall 2010 around the world. Starring are popular actor and Walt Disney Records recording artist Mitchel Musso ("Hannah Montana,"� "Phineas and Ferb"�) as Brady and Doc Shaw ("The Suite Life on Deck"� and "Tyler Perry�s House of Payne"�) as Boomer.</em></span></p>

<p><span>I hope this isn&#8217;t boring everyone, but we&#8217;re very excited about Bridgit Mendler&#8217;s new series <em>Good Luck Charlie</em>.</span></p>
<p><span>The LA Times has just published an in depth review of the series. But the most surprising thing in the article, is this quote from executive Gary Marsh: </span></p>
<p><span>"What "�Good Luck Charlie� represents is an evolutionary step to really  put the family into our kid-driven family brand. Do I think this will be a  first choice for 35- to 40-year-old moms? Not necessarily&#8230; But  if we do our jobs properly and we create the authenticity we�re talking  about, it will allow us to tackle stories in a more grounded way that  will be more appealing to parents than other shows we�ve done before."�</span></p>
<p><span>Someone should tell Gary about all the adults that like <em>Kim Possible</em>, <em>Lilo &amp; Stitch</em>, <em>American Dragon</em>, <em>Phil of the Future</em>, <em>Hannah Montana</em>, <em>Wizards of Waverly Place</em>, and <em>Sonny with a Chance</em>. Still, it&#8217;s a good thing that they&#8217;ve finally noticed that their shows can and do appeal to <strong>families</strong>, not just tweens. </span></p>

<p><span>Recently, MKP group founder Tucsoncoyote posed a question to KP fans: &#8220;Has Mission Kim Possible outlived it&#8217;s usefulness&#8221;? And that &#8220;because now so few people care (and the number of posts show it), the usefulness of Mission Kim Possible I feel has come to an End. So in order to get some feedback here, I&#8217;m not going to close off this group until January 14th, 2010, the sixth anniversary of the creation of this Yahoo Group.&#8221;</span></p>

<p><span><em>Kevin Gamble has been named Vice President, Development, Disney  Television Animation, it was announced today by Eric Coleman, Senior  Vice President, Original Series, Disney Television Animation, to whom  he will report. A top creative executive in CG animation and new media,  Gamble joins Disney with 12 years experience, most recently as Vice  President, Production &amp; Creative for Classic Media.</em></span></p>

<p><span><em>Walt Disney (NYSE:DIS) reported fiscal Q4 EPS of 46 cents, ex-items, topping consensus estimates of 41 cents. Revenues in the quarter rose 4% year-over-year to $9.87 billion, and came in  ahead of consensus estimates of $9.29 billion.</em></span></p>

<p><span><em>Disney Channel has picked up Season Two of the hit comedy series "JONAS,"� starring the multi-platinum recording artists Jonas Brothers plus popular actresses Chelsea Staub and Nicole Anderson.</em></span></p>

<h2 class="style2" style="text-align: center;"><span class="style0"><span>Sneak Peak of Good Luck Charlie! </span></span></h2>
<p><span>We always like to close the newsletter with something fun, and this issue is no exception!</span></p>
<p><span>On December 4th, Webmaster Greg attended a taping of Disney Channel&#8217;s newest original series <em>Good Luck Charlie</em> staring Bridgit Mendler (<em>Wizards of Waverly Place</em>) and Jason Dolley (<em>Cory in the House</em>). The series is currently expected to begin airing in April or May 2010, although no official announcement has been made. In addition to filming four scenes from episode #111 "Kit and Kaboodle"� they also showed the audience the first episode of the series &#8211; to introduce the characters.</span></p>
<p><span><em>We learn that the mom is a nurse, and it�s her first day going back to  work. Her husband Bob runs an exterminator business (Bob�s Bugs be  Gone) and assures her that baby Charlie will be fine. Meanwhile, Teddy  is trying to kiss "the hottest guy in school"� and keeps getting  interrupted.</em></span></p>
<p><span>The show is a refreshing change of pace, in that it deals with normal problems with a normal family. At least as normal as any TV family can get &#8211; no pop stars, no wizards, no hotels, etc. The only &#8220;gimmick&#8221; is baby Charlie, which in no way detracts from the charm of the show. </span></p>

  <p>On September 1st, 2006, Disney made a move that would signal the end of the W.I.T.C.H. animated series. On that day they moved all JETIX shows off of ABC Family to be shown exclusively on Toon Disney. This mid-season move left many fans in the dark, as Toon Disney is in half as many households as ABC Family channel. It's true that this series didn't get super ratings on ABC Family, but reducing the amount of people who can watch it is no way to increase viewership! And now, many months after the last season two episodes have aired, there is still no word on a third season. Most networks renew their shows before the previous season ends, and this extended delay shows that Disney doesn't really want to renew the show. Most people will agree that the second season is a significant improvement over the quality of the first season. There is so much potential for a third season that it truly deserves to be continued.

There is good news, however. Fans of Kim Possible where able to get that show renewed nine months after it 'ended production forever.' We can do the same for W.I.T.C.H., but only if we can generate the same (or even greater) level of support that KP had. This will be hard, but it is possible! But we need the help of every fan that can possibly help.</p>
