<p>Well, looks like the Parks division and Media Networks division saw good growth in the past quarter.</p>
<p><em>Walt Disney Co.�s (DIS) fiscal first-quarter profit rose a stronger-than-expected 12% as the company�s theme-park division benefited from higher spending and attendance. &#8230; Revenue from Disney�s television and theme-park businesses continued to drive its top-line growth over the past year, though the contribution from cable-TV juggernaut ESPN suffered in the latest quarter &#8230;</em></p>

You see, <span>Jennette McCurdy</span> of Nickelodeon&#8217;s hit series iCarly did a special charity event in Beverly Hills and Greg was there not only to meet her, but to give her a <a href="http://disneyfanshop.com/item/sds-001/">Save Disney Shows bracelet</a>. Her reaction was&#8230; well&#8230; about what you would expect for a Nick star! But it was quite nice of her to hold it up for the live webcast of Greg&#8217;s friend Brian of <a href="http://www.mccurdian.com/">McCurdian.com</a>. And of course, she made sure to say that she would mention it to her many friends on Disney. =]</p>

<p>Last month we brought you a message from the leaders of the <span><em>Kim Possible </em>Fan Convention</span> project. This month, we just wanted to give you a few important updates regarding the status of the project.</p>
<p><span><em>Kimvention 2012 is the Kim Possible Fan Convention happening the weekend on June 8-10 in Southern CA. We&#8217;re finalizing the venue and when we do, we&#8217;ll announce the location.</em></span></p>
<p><em>It&#8217;s a fan convention to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 21st Century&#8217;s first great heroine, and the team that brought her to the screen. We are working to put together a lineup of panels and events to entertain and maybe inform some fans about how a show like KP gets put together, all the care taken by people who truly are plying a craft.</em></p>

<p>We&#8217;ve been giving you news for the past few months about the scheduled events for the 2011 D23 Expo. Well, the event has now come and cone and our own Webmaster Greg was there.</p>
<p>Special guests that made appearances at the Expo included Jason Dolley, Leigh-Allyn Baker, Bradley Steven Perry, Adam Hicks, Hayley Kiyoko, Chris Brochu, Tiffany Thornton, Sterling Knight, Doug Brochu, Allisyn Ashley Arm, Alyson Stoner, Leo Howard, Olivia Holt, Kyle Massey, China Anne McClain, Jake Short, Sierra McCormick, Stefanie Scott, Doc Shaw, Kelsey Chow, Bella Thorne, Zendaya, Davis Cleveland, Roshon Fegan, Adam Irigoyen, Kenton Duty and Caroline Sunshine.</p>
<p>There were some disappointments, such as Chelsea Kane not showing up, but on the whole it was an amazing event and gave us a lot of insight into the new and current projects in the works at Disney. And did you know that Alyson Stoner has a new EP coming out?</p>

<p><em>Walt Disney Co.�s (DIS) fiscal second-quarter profit slid 1.2% as strong   advertising revenue and an improving parks-and-resorts business were   offset by poor results in the studio entertainment division.</em></p>
<p><em>Like many of its peers, Disney�s networks have benefited from a rebound   in the television advertising market, while its theme-parks division has   reported higher attendance and per-person spending. However, overall   results were dragged down by the timing of the Easter holiday, which   fell in the current quarter, along with the effects from the Japanese   earthquake, the timing of certain DVD releases and a disappointing   showing for the film "Mars Needs Moms."�</em></p>
<p><em>Revenue from the company�s media networks-its biggest top-line   contributor-jumped 12%, while profit increased 17%. ESPN revenue was   boosted by the football Bowl Championship Series and high ratings for   regular-season NBA games. Chief Executive Robert Iger said on a   conference call that early signs suggest "strong"� advertising sales. </em></p>

<p>Disney Channel&#8217;s hit series<em> Wizards of Waverly Place</em> has filmed it&#8217;s final episode. Disney will likely stretch out the last of the new episodes through the end of the year and possibly even into early 2012. It looks like the promises second movie won&#8217;t be happening though&#8230; which leaves the serious possibility that the series will end without an answer to the question of who will win the wizards competition.</p>

The new series focuses entirely on the comedy with pretty much no connection to <em>Sonny</em>"�s plot what so ever. Still, it�s got a good cast  and it�s pretty well written. Give it a chance, the series premieres June 5th at 8:30 after the <em>Shake it Up </em>/ <em>Good Luck Charlie</em> crossover special.</p>

<p><em>Over 30 Disney Channel and Disney XD stars from around the globe will   compete in "Disney Friends for Change Games"� to promote conservation   and the power of coming together with friends and family to make a   difference in one�s community and the world. Four teams of young stars   will compete in a series of fun physical challenges to benefit specific   charities and Friends for Change community projects on a global basis. </em></p>
<p><em>"Disney Friends for Change Games"� teams will compete on behalf of   Fauna and Flora International (Green Team), World Wildlife Fund (Red   Team), Ocean Conservancy (Blue Team) and UNICEF (Yellow Team). Disney   will make a donation of $125,000 to each charity, and the winning team�s   charity will also receive an additional $100,000 donation from Disney.</em></p>

<p>So of course when  Victoria Justice and the cast of Victorious performed their first concert in LA for Walmart Soundcheck, he just had to check it out. And it was very impressive, which of course, was expected from the start!</p>

<p><em>Television�s popular teen twins Zack and Cody, the longest running continuous characters on Disney Channel, are at the center of the comedy and adventure in the third iteration of their powerhouse "Suite Life"� franchise, "The Suite Life Movie,"� premiering FRIDAY, MARCH 25 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) as part of the hugely successful Disney Channel Original Movie franchise. Reprising their series roles are Dylan Sprouse and Cole Sprouse, who also executive-produce the movie, Brenda Song (of the Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated film "The Social Network"�), Debby Ryan, Matthew Timmons and Phill Lewis.</em></p>
<p><em>Filmed on location in Vancouver, Canada, the comedy adventure movie takes place during spring break as Cody gets an opportunity to participate in a prestigious internship program. However, when twin brother Zack destroys billion-dollar scientific equipment, Cody is kicked out of the program. Soon thereafter, the brothers are approached to join the Gemini Project, a high-tech research center studying the dynamics between twins. Shockingly, they find themselves interconnected in a way they�ve never been before: When one twin experiences a sensation, thought or feeling, the other twin feels it too. While this newfound revelation helps the boys see eye to eye for the first time, it puts them in more danger than they could have imagined.</em></p>

Well, with this announcement that Alyson Reed will reprise her role as Ms. Darbus in the new Pilot <em>Madison High</em>, it looks like Disney is finally doing just that! And it&#8217;s also been revealed that G Hannelius has been added to the cast!</span></p>
<p><span><em>A favorite star from "High School Musical"� will be joined by six multitalented performers in a new music and dance-driven comedy pilot, "Madison High"� (working title). The series pilot introduces a troupe of theater students led by the melodramatic drama teacher Ms. Darbus, a beloved character from the cultural sensation "High School Musical."� Production on the pilot in March in consideration for a Disney Channel series to premiere in early 2012.</em></span></p>

This film tells the story of the 1984 a stockholders&#8217; revolt that brought in the new management team that included Michael Eisner, Frank Wells, Jeffrey Katzenberg, and Roy E. Disney (Walt&#8217;s nephew). It chronicles the decade between 1984 and 1994 when the studio created such hits as <em>The Little Mermaid</em>, <em>Who Framed Roger Rabbit</em>, <em>Beauty and the Beast</em>, <em>Aladdin</em>, and <em>The Lion King</em>. It is a Disney movie, and obviously has some bias in how events are portrayed, but it is still a fascinating look at a piece of contemporary Disney history that most people will not be familiar with. You can <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B003TVTRYM/savedisneysho-20">find the film on Amazon</a> (only $4 to rent or about $20 to own). It&#8217;s also available on Netflix and a variety of other sites. </span></p>

<h2><span class="style0"><span>New Movements Founded for JONAS (LA) and Sonny with a Chance</span></span></h2>

<p>Disney has declined to renew the revamped J.O.N.A.S. / JONAS LA series for a third season citing among other issues, scheduling concerns.</p>
<p>In light of this development, and given the fact that the second season was considerably better than the first season, we have established a &#8220;Save JONAS&#8221; movement for the fans that have been asking for one. <p>It&#8217;s no secret that Demi Lovato, Sonny Munroe herself, has fallen on some rather hard times recently. And with all the uncertainty surrounding her future availability, it&#8217;s hard to say what will happen to the show. The general consensus seems to indicate that the show will continue for season three, with or without her. Here at SDS, we seek to ensure both that the show continues and that it continues with Demi in her lead role.</p>
<p>As the first filming dates grow closer, we will continue to monitor the situation and possibly begin planning of future events as necessary on our new <a href="http://savedisneyshows.org/sds/swac/home/">Save SWAC website</a>.</p>

<p><em>Disney Channel has ordered the live-action comedy series, "A.N.T. Farm"� (working title), it was announced today by Gary Marsh, President, Entertainment, and Chief Creative Officer, Disney Channels Worldwide. "A.N.T. Farm"� will begin production in early 2011.</em></p>
<p><em>The series stars 12-year-old China McClain ("House of Payne"�) as middle schooler Chyna Sparks, a music prodigy who gets into a gifted program, Accelerated Natural Talent, at the local high school. She, along with her fellow ANTS, must now navigate the halls of high school where they�re not particularly fond of grade-skipping newbies.</em></p>

<h2><span class="style0"><span>Disney 4th Quarter Profit Sinks 7%</span></span></h2>

<p><em>Walt Disney Co. profit sank 7 percent during the final three months of its fiscal year, disappointing Wall Street as one-time adjustments dragged down the company�s television networks and theme parks and more than offset gains from the blockbuster movie "Toy Story 3."�</em></p>
<p><em>Disney made $835 million during the quarter, which ended Oct. 2, down from $895 million last year. Revenue dipped 1 percent to $9.7 billion.</em></p>
<p><em>Disney�s full-year profit leapt 20 percent to just under $4 billion on revenue that was up 5 percent to $38.1 billion, thanks in large part to continuing advertising and affiliate-fee gains at ESPN and a slate of hit films that included "Toy Story 3,"� "Alice in Wonderland"� and Marvel Entertainment�s "Iron Man 2."�</em></p>
<p><em>Disney President and Chief Executive Officer Bob Iger called the year "a good one financially and strategically for our company."�</em></p>
<p><em>Operating profit at Disney�s media networks, which include ESPN, tumbled 18 percent from last year to $1.2 billion during the quarter but climbed 8 percent to $5.1 billion for the year.</em></p>

Sharpay packs her bags with Boi in tow and heads to the Big Apple to fulfill her destiny on Broadway. Her father has given her one month to make it to center stage, or else she will have to return home and learn the family business. However Sharpay�s dreams are turned upside down when she discovers the Broadway role is really for Boi, not her. Pushing her disappointment aside, Sharpay sets out to make Boi the most fabulous canine to hit the Great White Way.</em></p>

<p>The news broke via twitter Thursday evening that ABC Family�s <em>10 things</em> has been canceled! Series Creator and Executive Producer Carter Covington   tweeted on thursday: &#8220;Sad news"� ABCFamily canceled the show <img src='http://dcfans.tv/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':(' class='wp-smiley' />  Thanks 2 our AMAZING fans - U R the reason I do this! Enjoy the last 5 eps - they�re fantastic!&#8221;</p>
<p>It sounds like the decision was primarily made in response to lower than expected ratings. Which means that a sizable fan campaign has a  reasonable chance of convincing the company to continue to invest in  the show. So spread the word, and do it quickly! We need as many people  as possible to write and call Disney and politely ask them to renew the  show.</p>

<p><em>Legend of the Seeker is a Disney syndicated show that is based on The Sword of Truth fantasy novels by Terry Goodkind. On March 4, 2010 it was announced that Tribune/WGN had decided not to renew the series for a third season, but there was still a chance that the series would not be canceled. However, this past Monday, April 26, 2010, it was reported by Ausiello that Legend of the Seeker has been canceled. Despite the fact that the show had almost no promotion and an incredibly erratic airing schedule (4pm sometimes, 1am other times), it still averaged 2.5 million viewers (Nielsen ratings). The "Save Our Seeker"� movement has been launched in response to the cancellation of the series.</em></p>

The creators have developed a unique premise for a show, and assembled a perfect cast to pull it off.</p>
<p><em>A second season of "I�m In The Band,"� a music-filled, live-action  comedy series about a teenager who realizes his wildest dream when he  joins his favorite "vintage"� rock band, has been ordered by Disney XD, &#8230; The new season finds the band inching their way closer to an epic  comeback and includes a one-hour special where Tripp joins arch-rival  rock band Metal Wolf. Iron Weasel attempts to lure him back during  Metal Wolf�s performance at the Super Bowl, and by happenstance, ends  up stealing the spotlight.</em></p>

<p>Our first Save <em>Wizards</em> day was this past friday the 26th. <strong>The email stats show a 10% increase</strong> over our unofficial <em>Wizards</em> email day earlier in the month, which is an encouraging sign, but no where near what we need!</p>
<p>To those of you who are doing your part, thank you, please keep it up. But we need the rest of you to step up!  <em>Wizards of Waverly Place</em> will stop filming this month. And <strong>the show <em>still</em> hasn&#8217;t been renewed! </strong></p>
<p>I know a lot of fans of the show are skeptical that the show needs our help, but IT DOES. Look at our track record, SDS has always been out front trying to raise awareness of these problems so that the fans have an opportunity to fight back. Even if you&#8217;re not a fan yourself, we need your help to get the word out. Once the show stops airing new episodes people will catch on, but history has shown us that<strong> by then, it might be too late.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Our next Save Wizards day  is March 19th.</strong> This is our last best chance to save the show. We need it as big as possible.</p>

<p>I obviously don�t know all the details, but something here just doesn&#8217;t add up. Why not release the third album with Hollywood, make a good deal  of money from it, and then shop for a new record deal while riding the  wave of that album? This sounds a lot like when Aly and her mom walked away from <em>Phil of the  Future</em> for a new show with AJ that eventually never happened.</p>

At that filming, he got to see the first episode and the  one they shot that day, #111 "Kit and Kaboodle."� Well, he decided once wasn&#8217;t enough and went again on February 12th. That Friday�s episode was #118, "Butt-Dialing Duncans."� We don�t want to give  too much away, but we will say that Teddy and PJ get new phones which  get themselves in a little bit of trouble.</p>

  <p>American Dragon: Jake Long is one of the best Disney Television Animation projects in this decade. With a new crew, this show has evolved into one of the better series on Disney Channel. Jake Long, a skateboarding teenager who has the ability to morph into a fire-breathing dragon, is the magical protector from New York City. Now, Jake is the one, who has to be protected from an old unwritten policy.

Although Jake has plenty of fans, his show has been canceled. The only way that American Dragon: Jake Long will get a third season is if the fans make it happen. The show still has potential that needs to be exploited. Given the amazing success of the Save Kim Possible Campaign has made, this movement has a significant chance of success if we all continue to work together.
