<h2 style="text-align: center;"><span><span>Disney First Quarter Profit Climbs 12%</span></span></h2>

<p>Well, looks like the Parks division and Media Networks division saw good growth in the past quarter.</p>
<p><em>Walt Disney Co.�s (DIS) fiscal first-quarter profit rose a stronger-than-expected 12% as the company�s theme-park division benefited from higher spending and attendance. &#8230; Revenue from Disney�s television and theme-park businesses continued to drive its top-line growth over the past year, though the contribution from cable-TV juggernaut ESPN suffered in the latest quarter &#8230;</em></p>

<p>It&#8217;s good to see Disney paying at least <em>some</em> attention to animation again. It&#8217;s a start.</p>
<p><em>Disney�s hugely popular duck-billed, beaver-tailed, teal-colored character Perry the Platypus, as seen on "Phineas and Ferb,"� the #1 animated series for kids and tweens, will be the main attraction on Platypus Day, SATURDAY, MARCH 3. The celebration includes the introduction of "The Platypus Walk,"� a catchy spy-surf-rock song and dance designed to encourage fun physical activity as part of Disney�s commitment to inspire kids and families to lead active lifestyles.</em></p>

<p>It seems like we&#8217;re always recanting some recent adventure of  our Webmaster Greg in LA, but he really stepped up his game last month! You see, <span>Jennette McCurdy</span> of Nickelodeon&#8217;s hit series iCarly did a special charity event in Beverly Hills and Greg was there not only to meet her, but to give her a <a href="http://disneyfanshop.com/item/sds-001/">Save Disney Shows bracelet</a>. Her reaction was&#8230; well&#8230; about what you would expect for a Nick star! But it was quite nice of her to hold it up for the live webcast of Greg&#8217;s friend Brian of <a href="http://www.mccurdian.com/">McCurdian.com</a>. And of course, she made sure to say that she would mention it to her many friends on Disney. =]</p>
