New Member Guide

Welcome new member, this guide is designed to help get you up to speed on what SDS is all about. If you have questions or comments feel free to send an email to the Webmasters.

This Guide has four parts:
  • The Basics
  • The History
  • The mission
  • How to help

  • I reccomend you read them all before you explore the rest of the site.

    The Basics of SDS

  • We want Disney to end the 65 episode rule.
  • We want boxsets of older disney shows.
  • We believe we can change Disney for the better if we all work together.
  • We'd like you to join our Fourm.
  • We have easy to use mass email programs.
  • We have every piece of contact info we know of here, and it's updated frequently.

  • The History of SDS

During the Autumn of 2003 several fans of the Disney show Kim Possible, realized that their favorite show was in danger of ending due to the 65 episode rule. They began trying to spread the word and met widespread resistance from other fans. On January 14, 2004 they decided to start their own yahoo group, Mission Kim Possible. Shortly thereafter a member paid for a website, SaveKimPossible.com. SaveKimPossible.com went offline on January 20, 2005 after being replaced by this website SaveDisneyShows.org. Save Disney Shows was created by Kim Possible fans, but it truely is for all Disney Fans.

    The Mission

One (misguided and possibly insane) person once said "the entire purpose of SDS is, in marrow, a jihad to abolish a limit (detention?) that doesn't exist." The 65 episode rule may not be a written policy, but it definitely exists. Just look at all the Disney TV shows that ended at or near 65 episodes. We feel the 65 episode rule hurts the Disney company in addition to being unfair to the fans. The Disney company is not the enemy, rather we want quality shows to continue at Disney. Continuing quality shows like Kim Possible and Lilo and Stitch will make more money then investing in shows like The Buzz on Maggie. Recently, Disney Channel gave the show That's so Raven an extension to 100 episodes. Hopefuly we can convince them to give extensions to other shows as well. We also want Disney to release DVD boxsets of their older shows. Most of these shows, like Ducktales for instance, are not even shown on ToonDisney anymore. There is no downside to releasing these shows in DVD boxsets, for they are cheap to make and make a high profit margin. Disney's recent release of the first season of Gargoyles seems to be a first good step toward this goal.

    How to Help

There are many ways you can help. For starters check out the How to Help page.

First of all, we have nearly 50 addresses you can send paper letters to. Try to send some paper letters every now and then.

Next, we have several fax numbers, so you can fax some letters in. Don't have a fax machine? You can probably use your computer to send faxes. Instructions are here. You can also use FaxZero.com.

Next, we have the email options. We have several templates available your your use/modification at SDSmail.org. We also have the major individual email addresses listed on the How to help page.

Next, we have media outlets you can write to. Links to Newspapers, TV Guide, Time Magazine, and Entertainment Weekly are all povided on the how to help page. Write to all of them.

Then we have the petitions, both paper and online. Print out the Paper petition and get people to sign it - this is a very powerful tool if we use it. Some shows also have "email petitions" which are explained in each show's website. We also have the a couple online petitions on the how to help page. But please remember that online petitions are almost worthless, the Paper petition is what matters.

And lastly, you can complain to the United States government. I really don't know if this would do any good, but it couldn't hurt.

There are even more more things you can do, like shopping through our affiliate programs and recruiting more members. You could even help us write our newsletter or design t-shirts. Just sign up with the Forum and tell us what you're good at or how you'd like to help.

Some may say we don't have a chance, but as Walt Disney once said, "It's kind of fun to do the impossible."
